Archives for Babies

Welcome Alex ! This cute little pumpkin was born October 3, weighing in at exactly 5 lbs! I had the honor of capturing his first pictures. The proud grandma is my assistant Mary. Congrats to the proud grandparents and parents, Aimee and Kyle!

The Schankes are friends of ours, so when they asked about having a fall photo session to celebrate their youngest’s first birthday, of course I obliged! ¬†I couldn’t wait for the cake smash portion of the event… ūüôā ¬†Check out their family photos and a few of that splendid cake smash, too!

…and Spencer turns 1! ¬†Recently met up with this great family out at the Marblehead Lighthouse. ¬†The last time I saw Spencer…well, okay, I didn’t really see him so much as I was in his presence. ¬†He wasn’t yet born, but was on the way! ¬†And now? ¬†He’s walking and running and just a ball of energy and fun! Hope you had a great 1st Birthday!

A few weeks ago, I posted a very, very brief teaser from Karlee’s first birthday photo session. ¬†Well, that was mean…please forgive me? ūüôā ¬†The rest of Karlee’s gallery now awaits at! Here are just a few of my faves:

Please watch Karlee’s session video, too!

Just a sneak peek of Spencer’s First Birthday photo shoot from this weekend at the Marblehead Lighthouse State Park. ¬†I’ve never met such a smiley one-year-old. ¬†He made my job easy! ¬†There are lots more coming soon…

Many, many more to come.  Promise!

…and he’s only 3 months old! ¬†Cutie McCuterson…

Commence with the “awwwwe”s as you take a quick peek at some of my faves from baby Brenna’s newborn session. ¬†She is just darling!

Ok, well, not in person. ¬†I just wanted to share the rest of her gallery and her complete cuteness with everyone here in blog land! ¬†Maveryck and I met several weeks ago, in fact, just one week after she was born. ¬†We had a photo session that was all about baby…and mom survived. ¬†At the end of the session, realizing that Maveryck was being really, really fussy and must have been very uncomfortable, I simply said “I want you to come back!” ¬†A week later, mom and Maveryck came back, and brought dad for a few family photos too. ¬†I think that decision was perfect…not to mention a great testimonial for not having newborn photos taken at a studio chain.

Time out! ¬†I’m going to go on a mini-rant here. ¬†Please skip this paragraph if you don’t want to hear…I think that there is a time and place for the studio chain photos. ¬†You know the kind I’m talking about here. ¬†Rhymes with Mortrait Pinnovations. ¬†I actually think that they are great. ¬†I know! ¬†Coming from a competing photographer, you wouldn’t expect to hear that, would you? ¬†What I mean is…you get what you pay for. ¬†If you just want ONE photo in ONE outfit and have it taken in ONE mood (whatever mood you or your little one happens to be in when it’s finally your turn), and you are looking for a relatively inexpensive ONE photo, they are definitely the place to be! ¬†However, if you don’t like the drive, the wait in a crowded waiting room, the pressure of not getting anything on the clothes, and the stress of wondering if the little one will be pleasant enough to get a photo, then they may not be the right choice for you. ¬†Nicole was feeling that stress on the day of her first session. ¬†She’s a new mom, and she even brought her own mom in for moral support. ¬†Still, Maveryck was fussy. ¬†She didn’t like the feeling of some of the blankets and backdrops. ¬†She was hungry. ¬†She just wasn’t having it! ¬†No sweat…we did get quite a few more portraits than Nicole thought we captured, but still, I just said “come on back and we’ll do more!” ¬†My theory on photography is a simple one. ¬†I want you to be happy with the end product. ¬†If you’re not, then I haven’t done my job. ¬†Also, I want to capture you, your children and your pets in the best possible way, so that you can remember exactly what this moment in time was like for your family. ¬†I want you to be able to look at a photo taken by me 10, 20, 30 years ago and say “Yes, that was US!” ¬†Sometimes, getting to this end doesn’t happen exactly when we planned it to happen. ¬†I’m okay with that, and I will always promise to be as flexible as I can in scheduling, and rescheduling, and rescheduling again if necessary! ¬†End rant.

Okay, if you stuck with me through the above rant, then you are definitely deserving of a prize.  I think this little cutie will do just the trick!
