Archives for October 2012

I’m trying something new this year.  I’ve had a LOT of requests for updated family photos for holiday cards, gifts, etc.  So, I’ve decided to offer a one-day mini session special on Saturday, November 17th!  I’ll be holding 30 minute sessions in downtown Sylvania…there are only 10 available time slots for this one-time event, so hurry and book yours today!

Meet Miss “M”.  Her family recently met me out at Sidecut for a fall photo session.  Their gallery will be ready to post soon, but I just had to share Miss M’s many expressions.  Isn’t she adorable with all those missing teeth?!? 🙂

My cousin Bridget is a senior at Woodmore High School this year.  I remember babysitting her when she was just a wee little thing.  I might have dropped her off a swing. And she got a bad bruise.  Maybe.  But I’m not admitting to anything…

Anyway…….  She is all grown up now!  (And she certainly doesn’t blame me for dropping her long before she could remember things.  Oh, yeah, now she knows.  Sorry Bridgey!)  Check out her awesome senior session video, below:

Har! Har! Har!  I crack me up! But really, if you’ve stuck around after reading that title, then I guess I owe you some sort of explanation for the lame joke, right?  Okay.

Just a bit over a week ago, I photographed a private workshop for the hair stylists at Reve Salon and Spa here in Sylvania.  (I’ve worked there before.  You may recall that I even frequent that locale for my own “do”…I see Renee…she’s the absolute best!  Call there – 419-885-1140 – ask for Renee Iuele – you won’t be disappointed!)

If you were wondering who was hair there, it was Martin Parsons, an international hair-styling superstar.  I don’t know if that’s true.  I mean, he was very, very awesome, so if he’s not really a superstar in the hairstyling world, he’s definitely a superstar in my own little world over here!

The stylists spent two days learnin’ and practicin’…and I was there to capture much of it for posterity!  If you follow me on Facebook, you’ve seen the next couple of photos.  I just had to throw them in here, too, because…well, the heads kind of freaked me out 🙂

I’m kind of over it.  I only see the body-less heads every other nightmare now, so it’s getting better.  Kind of. LOL!

You should check out all of the stylists in their class by watching a short video slideshow that I put together for them.  And, the next time you’re in Reve (after you’ve made your appointment with Renee Iuele – which sounds like “YOU-EL-EEE” when you ask for her when you call them at 419-885-1140) you may just see the video playing in the background.  Squee!

Goodbye old friend…make room for new friends!

Finally!

I love this family!  They had an awesome fall session at Wildwood Metropark in Toledo.  I think the family dog, Hester, even had a good time!

Check out their session video, too!

Seriously.  This is a little-known fact about me.  I mean really, I’m a photographer, so I should be used to being around groups of people.  But this:

was a scene from my worst nightmare!  Ah!
I invited myself tagged along with a friend to the Renaissance Festival in Holly, Michigan, this weekend.  This just happened to be the very LAST weekend for the festival, and it was a beautiful early fall day in these parts, so everyone…and I mean everyone…descended upon the festival.  It was absolutely crazy, but I have to say, I did have fun.  Mostly people-watching.  There were definitely people to watch.  Like this guy:
…and these guys…:
…and even these guys, too!:
I’ll wrap up this post with just a few more quick photos from the day…
Did you know that a Straslueberry is a blueberry, stuffed inside a raspberry, stuffed inside a strawberry, and then dipped in chocolate?  Heaven.

We didn’t watch the pirate show.  It was rated a”R”rr, after all.  Ha!
Even though it was fun, and fun to people-watch, the Renaissance Festival did nothing to squelch my hatred of crowds.  Just sayin’.  🙂
