Archives for April 2012

Ok, so I’ve been wondering what to call the short little updates that I provide when I do some photography for my Realtor friends.  For the lack of anything more creative at the moment, I’m going to call this series “Real Estate Reveal”.  I hope that you’ll continue to check-in with me as I show you some of the Toledo area’s great homes for sale!

This week on the real estate photography front, I’ve photographed some wonderful homes in three different Toledo suburban communities.  Up first, Waterville:

6204 N. River Rd., Waterville
Listing Agent: Kevin Warren & Ginger Windnagle, The Danberry Co., Realtors

Take a tour of 6204 N. River Rd., Waterville:

Next up, Sylvania:

6053 Secluded Ct., Sylvania
Listing Agent: Kristie Feeback, The Danberry Co., Realtors

And finally, Temperance, Michigan:

9411 Jackman, Temperance
Listing Agent: Tony Bassett, The Danberry Co., Realtors

Ok, well, not in person.  I just wanted to share the rest of her gallery and her complete cuteness with everyone here in blog land!  Maveryck and I met several weeks ago, in fact, just one week after she was born.  We had a photo session that was all about baby…and mom survived.  At the end of the session, realizing that Maveryck was being really, really fussy and must have been very uncomfortable, I simply said “I want you to come back!”  A week later, mom and Maveryck came back, and brought dad for a few family photos too.  I think that decision was perfect…not to mention a great testimonial for not having newborn photos taken at a studio chain.

Time out!  I’m going to go on a mini-rant here.  Please skip this paragraph if you don’t want to hear…I think that there is a time and place for the studio chain photos.  You know the kind I’m talking about here.  Rhymes with Mortrait Pinnovations.  I actually think that they are great.  I know!  Coming from a competing photographer, you wouldn’t expect to hear that, would you?  What I mean is…you get what you pay for.  If you just want ONE photo in ONE outfit and have it taken in ONE mood (whatever mood you or your little one happens to be in when it’s finally your turn), and you are looking for a relatively inexpensive ONE photo, they are definitely the place to be!  However, if you don’t like the drive, the wait in a crowded waiting room, the pressure of not getting anything on the clothes, and the stress of wondering if the little one will be pleasant enough to get a photo, then they may not be the right choice for you.  Nicole was feeling that stress on the day of her first session.  She’s a new mom, and she even brought her own mom in for moral support.  Still, Maveryck was fussy.  She didn’t like the feeling of some of the blankets and backdrops.  She was hungry.  She just wasn’t having it!  No sweat…we did get quite a few more portraits than Nicole thought we captured, but still, I just said “come on back and we’ll do more!”  My theory on photography is a simple one.  I want you to be happy with the end product.  If you’re not, then I haven’t done my job.  Also, I want to capture you, your children and your pets in the best possible way, so that you can remember exactly what this moment in time was like for your family.  I want you to be able to look at a photo taken by me 10, 20, 30 years ago and say “Yes, that was US!”  Sometimes, getting to this end doesn’t happen exactly when we planned it to happen.  I’m okay with that, and I will always promise to be as flexible as I can in scheduling, and rescheduling, and rescheduling again if necessary!  End rant.

Okay, if you stuck with me through the above rant, then you are definitely deserving of a prize.  I think this little cutie will do just the trick!
